SYNOPSIS: Wild comedy packed with tons of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. This one has entered into the new cult canon as 80's film fans (probably via cable TV) have many fond memories of this one. Directed by Allan Arkush this film has the same wild energy and craziness as his classic Rock-n-Roll High School. The great Allen Garfield plays the small-time owner of a club (actually it's The Fillmore East) trying to put on the greatest New Year's Eve show ever. He enlists all his wacky workers, including Daniel Stern and Mary Woronov, to get the job done. They get all the biggest acts they can find including Lee Ving (as "Piggy"), King Blues, Lori Eastside (as "Nada"), Lou Reed and Malcolm McDowell (as the Mick Jagger-ish aging rocker "Reggie Wanker") in one of his funniest roles. Meanwhile, Ed Begley Jr and his evil cronies (Fabien and Bobby Sherman, no less) try to sabotage the whole deal. Fun songs, nudity, slapstick, spoofs of Jerry Garcia and Muddy Waters, rapid fire jokes, John Densmore from 'The Doors', sight gags, a drug dealing robot, a biker gang, 80's fashions, a life-size walking joint and more! Would make a great double bill with This is Spinal Tap.
