SYNOPSIS: Forgotten arthouse drama from 1979 that deserves to be rediscovered. “Laszlo” is a young Hungarian man in his twenties who decides to skip work for the day and use some stolen money to have a good time. He drifts around Hungary interacting with cab drivers, local residents, and drifters. He commits some vandalism, goes swimming, gambles with pinball players, and watches a documentary about Las Vegas at a movie theater. He also eats a lavish dinner and then skips out on the bill with all the waiters chasing him. It’s a day in the life of this unfocused angry young man. Visually it’s a great looking film. It has one interesting shot or camera move after another. It reminds a little of some films by Gus Van Sant and Larry Clark. Recommended. In Hungarian language with English subtitles. WIDESCREEN
