DIRECTOR: Robby Benson (Modern Love)
STARS: Robby Benson (One on One), Tawny Kitaen (The Perils of Gwendoline), Danny Aiello (The Protector), Paul Herman (Heat), Tony Sirico (The Sopranos), Judy Tenuta
SYNOPSIS: This one is much sleazier and entertaining than you might expect. 1970’s star Robby Benson (One on One, Ode to Billy Joe, etc) stars and directs this very 80’s exploitation film. It starts off with Benson and his wife (Kitaen) living in a nice NYC apartment and occasionally partaking in cocaine at parties or on the weekend. After a misunderstanding with their Asian dealer (who lives in the same building) Benson is offered a “job” for his honesty. The sharp-dressed dealer tells Benson he’s leaving town for about a month and needs someone to fill in. He explains it will be easy and of course very profitable. Benson reluctantly agrees and in one week’s time not only has he learned how to make crack and sell it… he starts using as well! Not wanting to miss out on the fun, Kitaen gets addicted and starts sleeping around. What the dealer didn’t explain to Benson was that he needed to leave town because a mafia man (Aiello) is his competition and wants him dead. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a naked (waist up) Robby Benson, covered in sweat, sucking on a glass pipe and then screwing a random blonde at a party - Billy Joe wept. Over-the-top acting, sex, sleaze and lots of drugs for a recommended ride. Sopranos star Tony “Paulie Walnuts” Sirico plays one of Aiello’s goons.
