The Probability Factor (L'Ordinateuer des Pompes Funèbras) (1976)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Gerard Pirès (Taxi)

STARS: Jean-Louis Trintignant (The Conformist, The Intruder), Mireille Darc (Tall Blonde Man with One Black Shoe), Bernadette Lafont (The Mother and the Whore), Bernard Fresson (French Connection II), Claudia Marsani (Submission)

SYNOPSIS: Silly French comedy with Jean-Louis Trintignant as a frustrated married man who works at an insurance company. He uses a primitive computer to figure death probabilities. Eventually he starts trying to speed up his wife’s death by encouraging various ways she might expire. He’s successful, and before her body is cold, Trintignant is banging his blonde secretary. She’s great for sex but not much else. Before long he falls for a co-worker’s wife who can keep house and cook up decadently rich meals. The two women hatch a plan to teach him a lesson and his new found freedom turns out to be short lived. It’s surprising to see Trintignant acting so silly in a comedy. Most of the film is plot driven with some minor nudity and action. In French language with English subtitles. WIDESCREEN
