SYNOPSIS: Dennis Hopper is more Bad Lieutenant than Dirty Harry in this cable TV movie from the director of Rolling Thunder. He plays “Harry Niles” (nicknamed “Nails”). After his partner is killed by some drug dealers early in the film, Hopper spends the bulk of the running time trying to track down those responsible. He has no problem bending rules and violating rights. Along the way he picks up a new partner (Milian) and beds down with his wife (Archer) even though they’re separated. Crime lord Keith David is the final boss running things. It’s great seeing the always entertaining Tomas Milian helping out Hopper. He’s almost unrecognizable from the films he made in the 1970’s; he has a mustache, glasses and pot belly plus he’s always reminding Hopper that his retirement is less than 8 weeks away. Most of his scenes involve him shoving burritos and pizza in his face. Future star John Hawkes steals the one scene he’s in as a crook who sells stolen merchandise. Overall the cast is filled with familiar 1990’s actors. There are numerous shoot-outs and car chases plus a little nudity.
