Fatal Termination (1990)

$20.00

(aka Chi se da feng bao)

DIRECTOR: Yeung-Wah Kam (The Big Heat)

STARS: Cheuk Yan Chan (Heroic Trio), Simon Yam (Dr. Lamb), Collin Cheung (Angel’s Mission), Kwok Leung Cheung (A Better Tomorrow), Phillip Ko (The Boxer’s Omen), Mike Abbott (Final Score), Moon Lee (Iron Angels)

SYNOPSIS: Here’s a fun 90’s Hong Kong film that’s packed with action sequences. A HK crime lord (Ko) makes a deal to sell guns to Middle East terrorists. He has an inside man at customs to make sure things go smoothly. Renegade cop Simon Yam is on the case. There’s also a man whose brother was murdered by the bad guys trying to figure out what happened. It all ends in a big car chase / shoot out with a helicopter, automatic weapons and grenades. There’s also kidnappings, torture and an exploding head. The most infamous part of this film is when a young girl (maybe 7-8 years old) is abducted by the bad guys. They pull up in a car and the creep in the back seat grabs her by her ponytails. Then the car takes off down the road with the poor girl dangling and her mother on the front hood! That might not sound like a big deal until you realize that it isn’t a prop dummy or stunt person — it’s obviously a real girl flying down the street at high speed. There are many stories of HK action films that played fast and loose with safety rules (Hard-Boiled using real bullets in some scenes, etc) but this one really takes the cake. On the down, or plus, side, depending on how you look at it — the subtitles are awful. A good portion of it look like it was run through some bad AI program. But... if you’re watching this film for the plot instead of action it might not be for you. In Chinese language with English subtitles. WIDESCREEN
