DIRECTOR: Pierre Reinhard (French Lolita)

STARS: Marie-Isabelle Heck, Natasha Davidson, Annick Chatel

SYNOPSIS: Obscure French import that has some effective touches despite it’s low budget. Three borderline juvenile delinquent teen girls stay at a small cottage house alone for a weekend. After one girl tells a story about a soldier who raped someone during the war, things get strange. Late that night an unseen figure easily gets into the house and sexually assaults the blonde girl. She doesn’t run or scream but freezes up out of sheer terror and afterwards tells her friends about what happened. Soon after the chesty brunette girl is attacked in a shower as the soldier cuts off her clothes with a straight razor. Fed up, the third girl grabs a gun and all but dares the man to return. It starts to become obvious that this attacker is either a figure in the girls’ collective imagination or… a ghost. Either way they try to reason with him, seduce him or kill him until the film’s climax. The rapist is usually only shown from the chest down as he walks around the house in his camouflage uniform. He never speaks and we don’t see his face. Some of the scenes where the girls are speechless during his attacks are effective and unnerving. An interesting psychological horror / sleaze rarity. The electronic score is surprisingly memorable. In Spanish language with English subtitles.
