To Kill a Clown (1972)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: George Bloomfield (Double Negative)

STARS: Alan Alda (Isn't it Shocking), Heath Lamberts (Nothing Personal), Blythe Danner (Futureworld)

SYNOPSIS: Babyfaced Heath Lamberts stars as a freewheeling, goofy guy (the "clown") on vacation with his pretty girlfriend Danner, looking and sounding more like daughter Gwyneth than ever before. They go to a remote bay and rent a beach house from Alan Alda. He's a crippled Vietnam war vet who walks with two canes and always has his trained dobermans nearby. He's friendly enough at first to the hippie couple but soon tires of their carefree lifestyle. He challenges Lamberts to be serious and follow an improvised bootcamp he will oversee. He makes him carry rocks from one spot to another, dig ditches, etc. Eventually this challenge turns darker and the duo find themselves at the mercy of Alda and his killer dogs. All the actors are great especially Alda as the bitter sadist with an axe to grind. Danner has a surprising nude scene.
