SYNOPSIS: If you’re a fan of the 1978 comedy thriller The Silent Partner with Elliott Gould and Christopher Plummer you might be surprised to find out it was a remake of this film. 11 years earlier this clever movie came out of Denmark. A hard-working, mild mannered bank clerk “Flemming” finds a discarded robbery note in the bank’s garbage demanding money. After doing a little amateur detective work he decides to prep himself to be “robbed”. He has a lunch box that he stuffs with money from his drawer each day waiting for the would-be thief to return. His patience pays off and he gives the robber “all” his money. When the crook reads about the actual amount missing he’s not happy. Our hero didn’t think it through too well as the criminal knows his name, where he lives, etc. This is the beginning of a cat-and-mouse game between the two men. Mostly plot driven with only a little action— I imagine Hitchcock would have loved to make this film. The original has a number of plot differences especially the ending.
