The Satan Killer (1993)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Steve Sayre (Rampage)

STARS: Steve Sayre, Billy Franklin, James Westbrook

SYNOPSIS: I know the term “so-bad-it’s-good” gets used a lot but in this case it’s true. Some bad films end up just being a boring grind - not this one. The basic plot has a deranged biker on a random killing spree. At the beginning of the film he kills a woman whose husband is a tough no-nonsense cop “James” (writer, director, star Sayre). He immediately falls into a rage-filled depression and becomes obsessed with catching his wife’s killer. James wanders around town playing “bad cop” interviewing anyone and everyone who might have a lead. A female news reporter helps him out and they fall in love; all the while the serial killer’s body count continues to rise. Eventually the two men come face-to-face for the final showdown. The film is packed with fight scenes, bloody knife murders, shoot-outs and nudity. All the actors seem to be amateurs and unknowns. Star Sayre wears the same yellow shirt for the entire film even though it takes place over a number of weeks (months?). He also has a permanent five o’clock shadow on his face that never changes. If you watch it alone or with friends, loaded or sober, it’s pretty hilarious. Check out the comments on the IMDB for this one. Apparently the film shoot was a real disaster. Recommended. Filmed in Virginia.
