SYNOPSIS: Legendary producer David Friedman presents his expose of the dark side of Hollywood. Stuart Lancaster plays a producer of girlie films in late 60’s California. He’s getting tired of his star actress and finds some fresh meat that he renames “Starliss Knight”. She’s tapped to star in his new big production called Youth in Babylon (also the name of David Friedman’s biography). Other players include John Alderman as a sleazy director, a frustrated lesbian actress (Mann) and a film school graduate who sees sexploitation movies as his stepping stone to “real” directing. Friedman really uses his access to the film world to his advantage. We see old western sets, editing rooms, screening rooms, film shoots and other behind-the-scenes footage. Not to mention backstabbing, melodrama, divas, full frontal nudity and rape. Friedman (producer of such trash classics as Blood Feast, The Defilers, She Freak, etc) wrote, produced and appears in the film as “himself”. The company that’s producing the girlie films is called “EVI” which was Friedman’s actual company at the time.
