DIRECTOR: Harvey Hart (The Sweet Ride, Fortune and Men's Eyes)
STARS: Cliff Robertson (The Pilot), Ernest Borgnine (Emperor of the North), Henry Silva (Sharky's Machine, Killer vs Killers), Helen Shaver (Osterman Weekend), Larry Reynolds (My Bloody Valentine), Kate Reid (The Andromeda Strain), Leslie Carlson (Videodrome)
SYNOPSIS: A group of ex-soldiers (including Robertson, Borgnine and Silva) go on hunting trips every Sunday in the Canadian woods. In the course of one outing they encounter another group of hunters across a small river. When one of the strangers opens fire and wounds their buddy our heroes shoot back and kill one of the interlopers. After retreating home the group expects the police to show up. But… nothing happens. The incident isn't even reported until weeks later - as an accident. Robertson predicts violent revenge by the opposing men. Not willing to be caught off guard he decides to stock up on as much firepower and men as possible. Then go back into the woods to finish the job in an all-or-nothing private war. Needless the say the film ends in a realistic bloody manner. Cliff Robertson is very intense as the de facto leader, everyone calls him “Major”, and is absolutely unwavering in his obsession with getting the upper hand. Ernest Borgnine is memorable as the one voice of reason in the group.
