DIRECTOR: Bruno Corbucci (Squadra Antiscippo, The Swindle)
STARS: Tomas Milian (Squadra Antiscippo, Almost Human), Enzo Cannavale (Man Called Magnum, Taxi Girl), Asha Puthli, Margherita Fumero (Little Italy)
SYNOPSIS: The always entertaining Tomas Milian returns for the 5th time as “Nico Giraldi”, the former cop turned undercover / special agent. Nico acts and dresses loud and thinks he’s super cool, but he’s mostly full of hot air. This time he’s in NYC (circa (1979) meeting up with an old partner who’s running an Italian restaurant. Meanwhile, the East Coast mafia families meet up to discuss a big moneymaking scheme. Part of this plan is to have one of the men marry a soon-to-be-rich nerdy girl. Turns out she is much more interested in Nico. Ultimately, Nico stumbles onto the Mafia’s plot and heads down to Miami with his partner to throw a wrench into their criminal plans. There’s disco dancing, fight scenes, car chases, silly humor and an action sequence with boats in the everglades. I love these early 80’s Italian films where they’re clearly stealing shots (shooting without permits). Like filming documentary style in NYC with Milian dancing around 42nd Street or staging car chases at 5:30 in the morning on the outskirts of Miami! The amazing band ‘Goblin’ (Deep Red) took a break from Dario Argento films to do the score for this one. English dubbed. WIDESCREEN
