Rocker (1972)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Klaus Lemke

STARS: Hans-Jurgen Modschiedler, Gerd Kruskopf, Michael-Thomas Krannich

SYNOPSIS: Here’s a film you’ve probably never heard of as it was made for German television in 1972. There are a few different characters we follow in the plot who cross paths more than once. First is freshly paroled biker trash “Gerd” who tries to win back his ex-girlfriend, has his house set on fire by rivals and tries to pull off a big drug deal. A sleazy thief, unnamed, who steals a car and gets his ass kicked. Lastly there’s “Mark”, the sleazy guy’s teenage brother, who wants to act tough and get into the criminal life. Eventually Gerd and Mark have a little road trip together and the mean biker even helps him get revenge on some creeps. It reminded me at times of Christiane F with it’s raw view at life in 1970’s Hamburg, Germany, not to mention the look of films from that period like American Friend and Fassbinder movies. Despite being made-for-TV the film really pushes the boundaries with sex, drugs and violence. The end credits list the real life German biker gang (or Rockergruppe) the “Bloody Devils”. Recommended. In German language with English subtitles.
