Don't Go to Sleep (1982)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Richard Lang (The Mountain Men)

STARS: Dennis Weaver (Duel), Valerie Harper (Rhoda), Robin Ignico, Robert Webber (Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia), Ruth Gordon (Harold and Maude), Oliver Robins (Poltergeist)

SYNOPSIS: Here’s a made-for-TV horror film that must have scared the hell out of any kids who watched it back in 1982. Made-for-TV movie king Dennis Weaver stars along with Valerie Harper as a couple who recently lost their daughter in a car accident. They have two other pre-teen children “Mary“ and “Kevin“. The family moves into a new house, with their kooky grandmother (Gordon), and try to get over their loss. Almost immediately the daughter starts having white-knuckle nightmares. She begins seeing and talking with her dead sister “Jennifer” who convinces her that no one in the family grieved her enough. Jennifer convinces Mary to cause her grandmother’s death and then sets about getting rid of the rest of the family! The actress playing Mary does a good job at being possessed by her hallucinations (or possibly a ghost). The actors play it straight making it all the more effective. Plotwise it goes much further than you might expect. Recommended.
