Delusion (1991)

$20.00

DIRECTOR: Carl Colpaert (In the Aftermath)

STARS: Jim Metzler (One False Move, Tex), Jennifer Rubin (Bad Dreams), Kyle Secor (Drop Zone), Jerry Orbach (Crimes and Misdemeanors), Tracy Walter (Repo Man)

SYNOPSIS: There were lots of “Neo Noir” type films back in the 90’s (The Grifters and Red Rock West are two good examples) including this forgotten one. White collar businessman “George” (Metzler) decides to switch a few numbers around and embezzle a suitcase full of cash. He hits the road driving through the Nevada desert but makes the mistake of picking up two stranded travelers “Patti” and “Chevy” (Rubin and Secor). They seem friendly at first but soon start acting suspicious. Chevy loves psychologically fucking with George while Patti uses her womanly charms to keep him driving to their destination. It turns out Chevy works as a hitman for the mob and figures our hero is better off dead so he doesn’t talk. Before long George is left for dead at the bottom of a hill in the desert but he manages to track down the duo, and his money, to exact some kind of revenge. Even though there is a fair amount of action in this film, it’s more of a character study with three people on a road trip. Rubin is sexy-as-hell and has a few explicit nude scenes. It feels a little like one of those made-for-cable thrillers that played on HBO back in the day. WIDESCREEN.
