SYNOPSIS: A Dutch family lives in a huge house located on a sprawling estate. The father is a helicopter pilot for the military. The family has two teens, a boy and girl, and two preteen sons. The older kids are in an all out war with their parents. The son is especially dangerous as he’s always playing pranks. They range from minor games like breadcrumbs in bedsheets to extreme: a small explosive in his father’s alarm clock that leaves him injured. The daughter is screwing a tennis instructor and flips out when she realizes her mother lusts after her boyfriend as well. The breaking point comes when the older kids overhear the parents talking about sending them to an extreme boarding school that disciplines troubled youths. They barricade themselves inside their home and the battle begins. At one point the father gets some of his military buddies to storm the house but the kids beat them back. You won’t believe the fucking ending. This film has a bit of a split personality. Overall it’s reminiscent of Home Alone or a Looney Tunes cartoon. People are injured, property is destroyed, a car is wrecked, a bomb explodes, etc. But the weird part is… it’s not really funny or even played for laughs. Maybe the Dutch just have a very specific sense of humor. At any rate, a fascinating watch. It also features numerous nude / sex scenes with the teenage daughter. It was also released on vhs as “Army Brats” with some wacky Animal House-style cover art. In Dutch language with English subtitles. WIDESCREEN
