SYNOPSIS: Fictionalized account of a real life Japanese painter who specialized in painting Bondage / S&M images. When the film starts off he meets a young prostitute and eventually begins a relationship with her. She’s fascinated by his extreme sexual appetite and wants to prove she can handle more torture and abuse than his ex wife did. They go though a series of games including beatings, ice water / snow submersion and lots of “Shibari” which is a complex rope bondage that sometimes involves being tied up off the ground. Once the subject is in position the artist’s assistants take photos which are then used as reference for his paintings. The film is pretty short on dialog and long on all the fetish scenes. Considering the subject matter the acting, photography and direction are much better than you night expect. There are also a number of R-rated, straightforward but rough), sex scenes.
