SYNOPSIS: An archaeologist and his team unleash an ancient evil beneath the streets of Rome. Donald Pleasance plays his role likes its Shakespeare as he talks of unspeakable horrors that may be lurking in a crusty forgotten tomb he and his workers find. Soon there are paranormal and Nightmare on Elm Street-style dream scares for all involved. A shady antiques dealer, horny teens, a cat burglar, a sexy actress, etc. Most of the running time is spent on mood and atmosphere for it's thrills. Too bad as the few gore shots seem pretty effective and the monster demon is cool too. Some nudity filled sex scenes and an electronic score that will remind you of Goblin (Deep Red, Suspiria, etc ) add to the exploitation factor.
