SYNOPSIS: A freak accident at a power station causes all the electricity in a large metropolitan city to be cut off just as night falls. We see all the various residents struggling with the blackout disaster. Trying to fix the problem we have an engineer (DiCenzo), politicians (Culp, Brown, Burr) and the police (Cassidy, Davis). Meanwhile citizens like Linda Purl, Vic Tayback and Gary Frank try to stay alive and not get robbed or raped. The plot bounces back and forth between all the players as they deal with pressure from the mayor, technical problems, looters, and being stuck in an elevator. The scenes with mobs of people ransacking stores and running through the streets are surprisingly realistic. An entertaining made-for-TV thriller that's packed with many familiar faces from the late 70's / early 80's. Plus you get to see Jonathan Frakes without his facial hair and David Cassidy with a mustache.
