RED: THE HALF BREED dvd

(1970)

DIRECTOR: Gilles Carle

STARS: Daniel Pilon (Snowballin'), Geneviéve Robert, Gratien Gélinas

SYNOPSIS: Rare French Canadian exploitation with our hero "Red" (as you can guess from the title) who is a half white / half indigenous Indian who loves fast cars and fast women. Likable Red (Pilon) spends his time scheming, bringing gifts to his mother on the reservation and overseeing his shady used car / chop shop. He has lots of friends and enemies in the crime world. A murder is committed and someone uses Red's gun which is left at the crime scene. This forces him to go into hiding and track down the people responsible. This is a well made film that's more of a character study than a traditional exploitation entry. It's filled with nice scenery, nudity, car chases, sexual assault, violence and shootings.
