THE HEATWAVE LASTED FOUR DAYS dvd
(1975)
DIRECTOR: Douglas Jackson
STARS: Gordon Pinset (Blacula), Alexandra Stewart (Mickey One), Lawrence Dane (Rituals), Al Waxman (Spasms)
SYNOPSIS: Gordon Pinset is super sleazy as a hard-drinking, womanizing news reporter who accidentally films an escaped convict during his remote news segment. Doing a fluff piece on the weekend heatwave, and flirting with teen girls, Pinset and his crew catch a glimpse of wanted mob man Lawrence Dane. Dane asks Pinset to leave him out of the broadcast as he is a married man and needs some discretion. Pinset tells him don't worry, but Dane does worry. If his old mob boss finds him, he's a dead man. Before long he makes an offer to buy the footage. When Pinset realizes who he is… plans for blackmail begin. But Dane is no pushover, and intimidation, double-crosses, and murder follow. Nothing too explicit with sex or violence but the production values are above average and all the actors are solid in this forgotten, low key, Canadian drama.
