DELIRIUM
dvd

(1979)

DIRECTOR: Peter Maris (Land of Doom, Terror Squad)

STARS: Turk Cekovsky, Debi Chaney, Terry Tenbroek

SYNOPSIS: Entertainingly cheap exploitation that starts off like a slasher film with Charlie, an emotionally detached man, killing a string of young girls. One is impaled in the chest with a spear, a nude girl is drowned, a man gets hacked with a meat cleaver and, in the most graphic murder, a girl is stabbed through the neck with a pitchfork! The stone faced killer is eventually taken care of about 1hr into the film. Then we switch gears to find out that the psychopath was actually part of a larger plot. A group of concerned businessmen in St. Louis have secret meetings (ala Star Chamber). They look over files of criminals who were found "not guilty" in court despite overwhelming evidence. This group works with a bald ex-military man who employs damaged war vets, like our pal Charlie, to execute specific criminals. Meanwhile, a pair of detectives are slowly closing in on the group. Made on the cheap but the gore and blood effects are good. A handful of Viet Nam flashbacks look like they were shot in the local woods. Some cheesy action and acting for fans of low budget regional films like Blue Vengeance, Night of Bloody Horror, etc. This is maybe the most obscure film on the infamous "Video Nasty" list from the UK.
