STREET PEOPLE

(aka The Sicilian Cross )

(1976)

DIRECTOR: Maurizio Lucidi (Stateline Motel), Guglielmo Garroni

STARS: Roger Moore, Stacey Keach (Watched!), Ivo Garrani

SYNOPSIS: It was a good idea to pair up Roger Moore and Stacey Keach as the anti-heroes in this buddy action comedy. Moore is the lawyer for a powerful Mafia boss. The boss is annoyed because someone smuggled heroin in a large Sicilian cross bound for a San Francisco church. He tasks Moore with finding the real culprits. In turn, Moore gets his motormouth, race car driving, pal Keach to help out. There are two excellent car chase scenes. The best of which is a jaw-dropper with pro driver Keach "test driving" a bad guys car. He flies down the famous San Francisco hills, skids into parked vehicles and drives down the sidewalk. All the while his screaming passenger is begging for his life. There's a little nudity, a rooftop chase and some bloody shoot-outs too. Moore plays his character cool and calm but Keach steals the show (as he often did in the 70's) with his memorable energetic performance.
