SYNOPSIS: A Canadian horror writer loses his grip on reality as his new book deadline approaches. The main character is a thinly veiled riff on Stephen King. He's even named "Steven". He has long list of wildly successful books to his name, Many have been made into popular films as well. At an appearance at his old college a handful of the audience members accuse him of selling out to the lowest common denominator. Telling him his gory books and movies are bad for society. Meanwhile at home his godawful wife is useless. His three kids nag him for attention but he keeps pushing them away in order to finish his book. After a tragic accident in his family gets blamed on one of his movies he finally cracks and starts hallucinating. The film itself is filled with gory scenes of horror either from his movies, books or his imagination as he's writing. We're treated to extreme mutilation, flesh eating nuns, a shower filled with blood, killer kids and the weirdest: a Nazi theme punk band that can kill people with their music! These sequences are pretty graphic and scattered throughout the film. Some nudity is provided during the breakdown / party finale with 5 hookers and a bag of coke. The odd little blonde girl from Cronenberg's The Brood plays one of his daughters.
