(aka Cop Killer, aka Order to Kill )
DIRECTOR: Roberto Faenza
STARS: Harvey Keitel, John Lydon (D.O.A.), Nicole Garcia, Sylvia Sydney, Leonard Mann
SYNOPSIS: Unfairly left to bargain bin status this overlooked thriller with Harvey Keitel and John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) in a sick psychological battle of wits is a winner. Keitel plays a crooked cop who is on the trail of a serial killer who targets undercover police officers. He's confronted by wise-ass weirdo Lydon who confesses to being the "Cop Killer". Instead of bringing Lydon to jail he strips him down, handcuffs him and throws him in the bathtub! Keeping him captive for his own brand of interrogation (including verbal abuse and eating out of a dog dish!). What follows is an unpredictable series of twisted mental and physical confrontations in which the lines between captor and captive become blurred. Keitel and Lydon both give memorable performances. Fans of 'odd couple' cult films like "American Friend" and "Performance" should dig this one. Ennio Morricone provides the offbeat score. Beware of the numerous public domain copies of this film on dvd under various titles (Bad Cop 2, Corrupt Lieutenant, etc) - they tend to be poor quality, cut versions. This is the longer 1hr 41min version.
