SYNOPSIS: It's great seeing
Burton play a bullying, sadistic, no-nonsense gangster in this
neglected British crime entry. It's one of his best, and unexpected,
performances. He loves his mum and also favors the company of men.
But taking care of squealers, robbing payrolls and blackmailing
politicians is routine for this career criminal. Nigel Davenport is
the law trying to catch up with Burton. Ian McShane, so amazing as
the main baddie on HBO's: DEADWOOD, plays Burton's cohort.
Supposedly based on the famed criminal Ronnie Kray. For fans of
violent crime flicks. Highly recommended.
