THE TELEPHONE
BOOK
(1971)
DIRECTOR (and writer) : Nelson
Lyon
(With script help by original Saturday Night Live
member (and resident genius) Michael O'Donoghue aka "Mr
Mike")
STARS: Sarah Kennedy, Norman Rose,
William Hickey and (in a bit part) Jill
Clayburgh
SYNOPSIS:
Tagline: "The Story of a Girl Who Fell in Love with the
World's Greatest Obscene Phone Call"
Highly recommended
underground comedy about a girl turned on by a mysterious obscene
phone caller. She's so turned on she spends the rest of the film
trying to track him down! Weird humor, lots of nudity, a young
appearance by Jill Clayburgh, hilariously bizarre dialog, William
Hickey, vintage NYC locations, orgies, Warhol regulars Ondine and
Ultra Violet and some X-rated animation all figure into this
one-of-a-kind gem! A personal favorite.
BONUS: Original theatrical
trailer.
